Blue Flag Beaches: the villas are approximately a 10-minute drive from the famous Vendée coast, known locally as "La Côte de Lumière" (Coast of Light). The fantastic sandy beaches are over 13 kilometres long, with eight kilometres of them facing due south.13 kilometres of sandy beaches [click to enlarge]
Fun on the beach [click to enlarge]Family fun: the beaches are ideal for families with children. Many are approved as "Kids’ Stations", which means that those particular resorts are a safe environment for children to play in. They also have specialist equipment and entertainments specifically aimed at families.
Water sports: for the more energetic, the beach has a 6-hectare area of water for people wishing to learn water sports. The "Cercle Nautique Tranchais" (Nautical Club) offers sailing, windsurfing, kite-surfing and sand-sailing. The area is also superb for boating and surfing enthusiasts.Water sports for all ages [click to enlarge]
Safe cycling [click to enlarge]Cycling: this area has wonderful cycle routes for cyclists of all abilities. The "Loire à Vélo" is a marked bicycle trail through the stunning Loire countryside. Along the way, you can visit châteaux, churches and abbeys, stroll through picturesque towns and villages or cycle through vineyards for over 110 miles!
Quad bikes (5 minutes): let the kids (and, indeed, the big boys!) be the next Lewis Hamilton for a while as they whiz around the track trying to beat everyone to the finishing line. There are different tracks for adults and children - and the safety briefings are excellent. While the little ones are having fun, the rest of the family can enjoy a coffee on the shady terrace.Quad bikes & go-karts [click to enlarge]
Indian Forest Adventure Park [click to enlarge]Indian Forest Adventure (5 minutes): this great theme park has marked trails in a forest, as well as 122 different challenges. Suspended on safety harnesses, you are able to climb, swing, dismount and even slide across the forest at a height of 20ft above the ground. There is also an adventure area for toddlers, with themed bouncy castles, a ball park, rock climbing and an inflatable park. This is an excellent day out for both children and adults and is just 5 minutes from the villas.
Cycle rail (90 minutes): Take a 10-kilometre ride in the country with friends or family along a disused railway line. Travel on special pedal-powered railcars that seat two to four adults. Pass through unspoilt countryside and admire the local flora and fauna. Cross over the River Vie and then pedal through the former railway station at St-Maixent-sur-Vie before enjoying a picnic lunch. It’s all very easy - all you need is to be able to cycle to enjoy some pedal-powered fun!
Golf [click to enlarge]Golf (30-90 minutes): the area around the villas boasts five excellent golf courses. France is one of Europe’s most popular golfing holiday destinations. It has over 25 of the Top 100 golf courses in Europe - and many golfers are now choosing to play in France rather than the traditional Spanish golf resorts. French golf courses are of an exceptionally high standard, are competitive and are well managed.
Château & adventure park (20 minutes): experience an historic adventure in the grounds of "Château de la Guignardière". As you visit four continents of the world, you must solve various mysteries and puzzles - and if all your answers are correct, you can open a treasure chest at the end of the challenge and collect a prize. Deer, horses, ponies, swans and geese all roam free in the grounds of the château, which extend over 86 hectares - and rows of ancient menhirs are shaded by centuries-old trees.Château & Adventure Park [click to enlarge]
